I give this place a chance about once a year. And once a year I have a Lodge experience that either 1) includes 2 free rounds of drinks and a 1.5 wait for food because they F'ed up. 2) a 'special' that was $48 without being informed ahead of time (most of their menu is $8-$18). Or 3) sick from blackened codfish (like vomit/ fever/ awful- I'm gonna die style sick).
These guys had their day in the sun and now that there are much better non-RIPOFF/ semi -pro joints in the neighborhood, hopefully it will shut for good. Total amateur hour. AVOID.
I loathe Lodge.
A hipster watering hole, but I love it. This is one of my favorite places in Williamsburg for brunch on the weekends. Expansive windows let in tons of sunlight. A large bar area to wait for your table - it makes the 20-30 minute for a table quite pleasant. The crowd is very upbeat and very Williamsburg. In the winter, they have a good selection of hot drinks and their 2 for 1 mimosas and bloody mary's are also a draw. The food is good, except for the shrimp and grits - I usually love shrimp and grits and their attempt at it here is terrible. The pancakes (especially banana) are absolutely amazing and huge - they're the thickest pancakes ever. Finally, the tongue in cheek decor is amusing (think trailer trash chic). It's a fun place to go for brunch, but I've never been there for any other meals.

full disclosure: I used to work at lodge, and in fact, I still fill there from time to time. I live right down the street and thus know and chat with most of the staff even 7 months after my proper employment ended there.
what to eat: first off, the general store sandwich menu RULES. I have a weird diet of vegan + fish and so for me, sandwiches are vegan.
I DEEPLY reccomend the Esther on toasted bread. portobello mushroom, thick slices of avocado, spinach, basil, sprouts, hummus yummmmmm.
The food in the restaurant can be a bit hit or miss true. I ate brunch there today and remembered that I wasn't actually a huge fan of their tofu scramble although I love the veggie burger. My roommate loved his razorback scramble though. Know your dishes, or ask for reccomendations from the wait staff.
If you go for dinner - GET THE SPECIAL. Lodge generally has pretty amazing seafood specials, but regardless the specials are almost always amazing.
and really, it's obvious, you should always get the special no matter where you go; it's the one thing the chef isn't sick and tired of cooking.
as for service: it's true, the ownership has really no problem at all firing someone who sucks after a pretty short time. If you hate lodge because of a service experience, give it another chance, if you get Josh, you'll be loving it.

I'd try Lodge again; I totally ordered the WRONG menu item. My friend and I were wandering around Williamsburg, half-lost. I texted another trusty friend from the 'hood who suggested we come here. After walking aimlessly in circles and mispronouncing "Havemeyer" while asking for directions like the awesome tourist I am, we finally found Lodge.
The decor is cute and lodgy. You know, antlers on the walls and shit. Young, hip clientele and servers - and they were really friendly to us. I was trying to detox from a few rich meals, so I ordered the "Tofu scramble" with fake sausage. Basically what I got was a pile of cooked vegetables with some cut-up fake sausage. No tofu, even. I was sad. I was looking at my neighbors' omelettes, French toastices, and pancakes with more than a little envy.
But I could tell the other food was good just by looking at it, and I had a very refreshing and large vodka drink. So I'd come back and order something fattening and breakfasty.
After we were done, I checked my phone and saw a text message from my savvy Williamsburg friend - "Lodge is good except for the tofu scramble."
D'OH!!!!

So, it was a family and friend affair, we were so excited to eat a great meal. First, the server approached the table announcing she wasn't really a server, she was just a bartender. I ordered a Prosecco, call me spoiled, but I asked for a strawberry, it never came. A family friend ordered an iced tea; somehow she figured he wanted a bourbon-iced tea? The service was sooo slow, painfully slow-all throughout. When we finally got our appetizers, we kept being bugged to give out entree order. When finished with our appetizers, the waitress remembered she had forgotten our friend's soup, when finally brought to him, it was stark COLD. 1 horrible entree(turkey meatloaf), 2 mediocre(tuna, trout), 1 great ($28 dollar steak). We ordered desert, my mouth was watering, it ended up taking so long...we canceled and left. The atmosphere was decent, aside from being sat by the gossipy server station. I wouldn't go back.

Over the past several months, the menus have changed and if you do get there around 11:00 on Saturday or Sunday, brunch is pretty delish. I'd say it's our go-to for 2 reasons. 1) We live around the corner, 2) We live around the corner. Ha! I'm exaggerating, I can't get enough of the pancakes ALTHOUGH let's be honest, do I need that much pancake? Like, ever? The portion is out of control, but usually pretty tasty. We've tried some of their dinner menu additions also and even some tasty desserts. I sure am glad this place is so close.

I have to mention a recent visit where the "vegetable plate" was a mound of thick pasta noodles with tiny bits of...squash (?), onions (?) and red peppers (?)...mixed in. No sauce. A bit of oil and that's it. How is that a "vegetable plate," pray tell, when the vegetables are barely discernable and such a tiny amount. I had to send the plate back, and this is something I rarely ever do, because no way in hell could I fathom spending 14 bucks on a plate of subpar "veg" pasta.

I had always walked by and never stopped in until after the mermaid parade. Maybe it was the time I went- around 6- but i didn't have to wait at all for outdoor seating. I got the vegetable special- which that day was vegetable risotto- it was fantastic- as were the mojitos! the waitress was realy nice too. I loved it! I will definately try to go again. I hope it will be as delightful the second time around.
This place juuuuuuuuuuust barely misses three stars.
I mostly order delivery which is extremely hit or miss. And as other posters have commented, the prices are really quite steep for what you're getting (small smoothie, side of greens, simple sandwich=$19 ??)
When they are on the sandwiches are fantastic, fresh ingredients, quick delivery.....worth the splurge.
But when they miss they miss big. I've been overcharged on a few orders....sandwiches on shitty white bread thats not fresh (unlike the garlic-rosemary bread advertised).
If it was more consistent it would edge into 3 star land.

Went here for a late dinner Friday night...liked the fact that they still had dinner at ten to eleven. Had the lamb chop appetizer - four baby lamb chops and vegetables...more than enough for an entree! Good beer selection, had my favorite blueberry beer! Pleasant waitress...flirty host. Fun vibe. Not TOO Williamsburg.

I've had brunch a couple of times at Lodge, which was a pleasant experience. Recently, however, Memorial Weekend to be exact we had dinner there; it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Brooklyn. My dining companions ordered the Turkey Meatloaf and I had the Vegetarian Empanada.
After waiting 45 minutes for our food: The meatloaf was mostly a bread-like consistency, tasteless, bland. The empanada was saturated in oil, my first bite (which was far away as possible from the visibly oily parts, gushed oil into my mouth. Inedible.

They have the tastiest veggie burger I have had in my life. It's loaded with good spices, herbs, corn, and rice.
Definitely a bit pricey. But still a good spot to chill and enjoy a tasty meal.
The first time I went to Lodge, the food was good and I enjoyed the atmosphere but the service was bad. Each visit after my first, the food got progressively worse and culminated in my being served the worst waffle that I have ever tasted at a restaurant. Also, the bartender made me and my friends awful tasting drinks. The service is very hit or miss and the clientele is fairly annoying. I will not be returning.
I haven't eatten at Lodge just yet only their General store off to the side of Lodge, so this review is for that. I've gotten a couple great sandwiches from these guys and some terrible coffee. It's a shame I love coffee and the first time I went to General Store was a great expirence which lead me to return several times but for sandwiches (which are fresh and tasty with top quality ingredients) but then I purchased coffee ($1 for a cup how can't you!) and it was terribly acrid and overall a let down. I will however give them another chance as I have previously received good coffee from them. They are also typically very nice in the General Store so that is another appeal of this tiny annex of The Lodge.

Okay food, but not worth the price any more. I used to go to this place when it opened, but now they have changed the menu and the prices and it isn't the same. I ate two of the mussels I ordered as an appetizer before deciding they just weren't fresh, and tossing them, which is creepy. The atmosphere is still cool but the service isn't great and the food isn't worth the price. And why are people waiting two hours for tables at brunch? Weird!
The extensiveness of the menu scared me quite a bit and my fears were validated as I ate un-fresh raw oysters and a porterhouse steak that was cut by a butcher on his first day on the job.
Looking at the other reviews, maybe I ordered the wrong things from the menu? If so, the wait staff needs to do a better job in telling us what to order!
Please don't serve bad food, you can kill somebody!

Great food - and always great vegetarian options. In the summer, the windows all along 2 of the walls open up into great breezy seating. And with bluepoint blueberry ale on tap, no complaints here. As the name implies, it's very lodge-y inside. Antlers and all but not scary - Veg. friendly.
On another note, their delivery was AWFUL. We waited over an hour for brunch to arrive and when it did all the hot food (including the coffee) had turned cold. And the coffee had spilled quite a bit in the bag. Not good.
My waiter was unusually skinny and spoke in this strange way that made me feel uncomfortable. Like he was mocking me, or grew up in N. California---either way it spooked me out. No salt on table. Water glasses empty. Waited to be seated to a nearly empty place. Im disapointed and out a cold hundy......I had higher expectations.
Oh yeah, my baked potato kind of sucked it too.

I am SHOCKED to see that I haven't reviewed this place, seeing as I've eaten here mistakenly about 4 dozen times. I say mistakenly because it was always an easy meal to go downstairs and have when I was at my ex's apartment. When her and I broke up it was an awesome excuse never to EVER eat there again. Having exhausted all restaurants in Williamsburg and having a hankering for oysters my lovely date and I went over for a meal. I apologize to her every day for subjecting her to the meal we had.
I would give you a blow by blow, but then I would have to do the same for every other meal I've ever had there. Quite simply don't eat here. Ever.
Advice to the owners: Trim your menu in half and don't bury the oysters 10 appetizers deep because they will sit around in your kitchen and go rotten like the ones we had.

Wow. I'm kind of shocked to see all of the poor reviews. My BF and I happened upon Lodge for brunch one day when we were wandering aimlessly through the streets of W'burg. Our usual spot was mysteriously closed and we were so hungry and tired that nothing looked good to us. And there was Lodge. We did have to wait, but the 2 for 1 bloody marys and mimosas kept us happy until were were seated. We have since been back about 5 times and have brought as many sets of friends from out of town. Everyone loves it. Caveat, though: we have never eaten at Lodge for dinner. The menu doesn't really interest me. I'm a vegetarian and the offerings don't dazzle me in the least. Yet another veggie burger and generic pasta dish? No thanks! Why can't these restaurants get creative with their vegetarian entrees? I would wholeheartedly suggest Lodge for brunch, however.
This seems to be a love it/ hate it kind of place. I really liked it. I was here for lunch on St. Patrick's day, and our really great server (Molly?) and everyone else was wearing green.
I had a Greek style omelet and my friend had a tofu-scramble. We both were very satisfied.
My only kind-of complaint is that the bathroom is very very dimly lit, with a red light at that, which was perhaps brothel-esque?
Another restaurant that I'm within a block of. I'm so in love with my new neighborhood!
I wasn't extremely impressed with the mussels. They were good, but not the freshest (I do have high sea food standards, though)... to be fair we got there right before they stopped taking orders for the night, so that could have something to do with it. The portion was really big and the fries were really excellent.
I love the decor. Very lodgy and Williamsburg-y at the same time.
Our waiter was wacky, but funny and attentive even though he probably just wanted us out of there so he could go home. He also made some sort of joke about us paying with a metrocard. I can't remember, but it was funny at the time.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
This is all pretensions and no substance, since the day it opened up around the corner from me. Even having it right downstairs does not make it worth a visit as a restaurant.
The atmosphere at Lodge is hip - true. Go for drinks in the stage-set room, but don't bother with the fried chicken. Bland overcooked crust encases a bland piece of poultry. The chicken n'dumplings was also a mess of bland chicken, soggy dough, and weak broth. The fritters could've been tasty (though not cheezy enough) if not for the oil.
Service is also hit and miss depending on who you get. The burgers are decent enough, but again NOT worth the schlep when I'm sure your neighborhood already has decent late night grub. Again, great place to meet friends for drinks, but go somewhere else for food.

I wouldn't make a special trip to Williamsburg for Lodge, but I live nearby and come for three things: whiskey drinks, dirty mashed potatoes, and Josh the waiter. My boyfriend eats the dinners and while the regular menu items don't jump out at us, he has really enjoyed most of the specials. The atmosphere is pretty good - casual with dim-lighting. They open up the windows/doors in the summer so the inside extends nicely out to the patio seating area.

Totally not at all impressed with this place. The food is mediocre and overpriced. It's definitely a true hipster hangout during the weekends, and it's great if you want to go to a 'destination' type place but not if you want really good food and the beer selection isn't even that impressive. Nothing exceptional about this place except for maybe the decor which gives you a nice lodgey feel if you can't make it to the nearest ski resort. Just another mediocre hang out place in W'burg.

I visited Lodge for the first time today at brunch. We walked in about 5 minutes before 11 and were informed by the snobby girl behind the bar that they weren't open yet and she seemed annoyed at the fact that we sat on one of the couches instead of, I guess, waiting outside in the cold wind. I was immediately thinking that I wouldn't like this place, being the service hound that I am.
We waited the five (exactly five) minutes while the servers stood behind the bar talking and it gave me some time to check the place out. I love the decor a lot. As someone else said, it's fun without crossing the line into the "too kitschy" zone. I love the high ceilings and open space and it somehow manages to be cozy. When it was 11 on the dot, the girl yelled to us that we could "sit anywhere," and since we were the only people there, it begs the question of why she didn't just seat us right away.
The menu has a great selection, I believe, with a little bit of something for everyone. Veggie options, meaty options, etc. The 2-for-1 bloody mary/mimosa special is alright, but I think they could really get some bigger fans if they went with some kind of prix fixe menu and had unlimited brunch drinks. Then again, what do I know?
Though the greeting we got left a bitter taste in my mouth, I must admit that our server was amazing. He was not one of the original eye-rolling assholes behind the bar, and he made me laugh quite a bit. He was very attentive and at one point this interaction took place:
Waiter: Hey, do you need your check?
My friend: I think that girl over there is getting it for us, thanks.
Waiter: Oh good, she's great, we have sleepovers sometimes.
He greeted people as they walked in with a "Hey friends!" or "Good to see you!" though by the looks on the faces, he didn't know them. Being quirky and friendly and making fun out of what is possibly a not-so-fun job is amazing and I wanted to be his friend.
Now, the food. Hm. The coffee was fucking delicious and perfect. It was not gut-busting Starbucks enema strong, but it wasn't tinted water either, it was amazing. I ordered the eggs florentine and my companion got the french toast. I think he was pleased with his choice, but there was something a bit off about mine. I don't think I've ever had Hollandaise that I didn't like, but this sauce tasted like...I don't know...vinegar? Listen: I can't make a goddamn thing, and I don't even know what's in Hollandaise, but this stuff was nasty. My manfriend enjoyed his food, but he'd been there before and obviously knew what to order.
Overall, I don't know. I'm sure that I'll be back, and I hope that I get the same server. We'll be sure not to come a moment before 11 next time...

Brunch at Lodge is pretty great, with only a few exceptions. There can be quite a wait, especially on Sundays. It's not cheap (this isn't a $5-toast-and-eggs-diner sort of place), but it's far from expensive. My favorite thing on the brunch menu is a veggie scramble (tofu sausage optional, but recommended). It's savory, healthy, and plain old delicious. Comes with salad on the side of the place, and costs about $9.
Even though I haven't had them, I would definitely recommend the pancakes or french toast. Every time I go I catch a whiff of someone's pancakes as a server walks them past me, and I ALWAYS regret ordering them. The bloody marys are excellent, and on Saturdays and Sundays they, along with mimosas, are two for one. (This had resulted in many attempts at productivity on weekend mornings thwarted by a trip to Lodge, which means I end up back at home, in bed, full and woozy from Bloody Marys at noon.)
It's definitely hipster-y, but not overwhelmingly so. Servers are friendly and accomodating, the atmosphere is low-key. It's not a bad place to bring kids for pancakes in the morning if you live in the area.
One bad thing: stay away from the bathrooms. Both times I've gone there, I've gone in the bathroom and made an abrupt U-turn for the door. Ugh. The restaurant itself is clean, well-lit, and very open...The bathrooms are dark, dirty and disgusting. My advice: hold it.

The Lodge...or as I like to refer to it: My kitchen. Since I rarely cook and my apt is next door to this place, I've tried virtually everything on this menu. Highlights would be the Surf 'n Turf, the burgers, and the Veggie Scramble (get it with egg whites and add cheese). The wait staff is...eh...not the brightest or most attentive, but one of the owners told me that they sometimes call it "Fire Island." So chances are if you have a shitty server, they'll probably be gone the next time you stop by.
However, my fave for the price are the breakfast bagel sandwiches from the General Store. They also have a $5 breakfast plate that comes with coffee....yum yum.
Enjoy the cheap breakfast, get the paper and kick it on the bench while you eat. You'll probably get into a long discussion regarding the Bilderberg Group and 9-11 conspiracies with some local skateboarders.

Not much to say that probably already hasn't been said. If you're from Willy-Burg, this should be a staple.
+Amazing, thick, fluffy, buttery pancakes.
+2 for 1 Bloody Mary's/mimosas (Bloody Mary's are sketchy thing these days, what with all the 'mixes' and apparent lack of horse radish. These WILL NOT disappoint
+Tofu Scramble-packed with veggies and vegan/regular sausage and spices- looks interesting...if I didn't live on carbs, fat, and alcohol.
-Really friendly servers (Though a little..just a little slow at times)
Inside is simply and, I guess, "lodgy"
-Outdoor seating
-Gets packed (I'd suggest going early to avoid the hangover crowd)
-Hipster-joint bathrooms are dingy as hell
Can't speak too highly for the non-breakfast menu (Burgers are cooked right, but bland. Sweet potatoes tend to be both burnt and soggy)
I really liked this place. 2-for-1 mimosas and bloody marys, delicious eggs with cheddar, and a friendly wait staff made for an excellent Sunday brunch. Also, the window/outdoor seating on a nice sunny day (much like this past Sunday) is really ideal. There are a lot of hipsters, but it's Williamsburg, so it's to be expected.

Lodge is a beautiful shabby chic joint that stares me in the face all day long when I am working on my laptop at Atlas Cafe across the street. It's fancy, but it's my kind of fancy--"rustic" wood tables, cocktails served in jars, antler chandeliers--somehow it gets the mixture of shabby and chic right without coming off as cheesy or overly bougie. It's miraculously always full of good looking people, and the servers have never been anything but sweet to me.
It's one of the only upscale meaty restaurants I know of that always has several decent vegan options, and as a herbivore, I appreciate this. I'm not talking about salad, either. Last time I went I had a delicious Greek dish of marinated and grilled seitan, warm pita, Greek salad (sans feta) and a tasty dairy-free tzatziki dipping sauce. The seitan was a little salty, but overall it was totally scrummy.
So yeah, if you're a vegan trying to figure out where to take your meat-eating parents and/or friends who want to drop a lot on a nice dinner, Lodge is the place. You won't get stuck eating bread for dinner.
GET READY TO BE SEEN.
A pretty hot brunch spot at the hippest zipcode in the nation. Descent food and good bloody marys. Wait staff is a bit overzealous and IN YO FACE to refill your coffee every 2.4 seconds, but overall very nice and hhhhhot.
A friend and I stumbled upon this place when we couldn't decide where to have brunch, and we both thought we'd struck gold. Our waiter was funny and personable and on top of things. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs. HELL YEAH that shit's amazing. I don't know what else to say but SOOO GOOD. Coffee was good, but I'm not exactly a conneseiur. Decor was cozy and yes it was hipster central but what do you want? It's Williamsburg for Christ's sake.
I will surely be back for more...
Yuckity yuck yuck. Had delivery of an otherwise beautiful pear , walnut, goat cheese & arugula salad with a really bad SOY SAUCE & balsamic dressing. It ruined it , nearly. Thank God it was at least edible , because the 1/2 chicken with potatoes wound up in the garbage.
It looked and tasted like boiled chicken. The skin barfingly free of any seasoning , or being browned at all. Pale , tasteless , & nearly mushy Fingerling potatoes looked just like, well cold dead fingers. Again , no seasoning. Under cooked broccolli & rabe sans saisson, encore. Not even the 2 little roasted tomatos had flavor. Not for nothing, but my cat would not even try the chicken. Impossible!!

"Wow, look at those amazing windows letting in a nice warm summer breeze! Let's eat there!"
Chances are, when you first decided to eat at Lodge, something like this was going through your head. Unfortunately, big windows don't translate to either good food OR good service, and since this place has neither, you better REALLY like big windows.
We were enthused to eat here, and were given a great table right in the corner. Unfortunately, that was the only positive thing to speak of. For starters, our waitress was DEFINITELY too cool to be waiting on us. Really. I mean, she could've been acting or painting or making music or doing SOMETHING artistic. She was just waitering to pass the time. But she was above it, and she made that PERFECTLY clear to us. Thanks for that, honey.
We got: a cheeseburger and fries, Cobb salad, and an omlette. Just getting a Coke took FOREVER, and the actual food was a good 45 minutes. The burger was the most bland pile of meat I've ever had in Williamsburg. It was absolutely tasteless. I'm not a burger snob in any sense - I could just as soon eat a Corner Bistro slice of heaven as I could four sliders from White Castle. But this...this was just flavorless.
The same comment was made by my friends about their dishes. The ingredients weren't cooked into the eggs. Instead, the eggs were cooked flat, then folded over onto the peppers and tomatoes. It was interesting idea that utterly failed as the entire thing fell apart on eating it. Tastewise, the judgement was the same as the burger: flavorless.
To go along with the theme, the Cobb salad was very, very airy (if that makes sense) and tasteless as well. The waitress took forever to bring our bill, topping off an overall horrible experience.
