Una Pizza Napoletana

I was introduced to Una Pizza Napolepana at a friends' birthday party and have decided to return with a friend. The pies here are nothing like the pies from your corner pizzeria. Don't expect that godawful sweet corn starchy taste or bland new world cheese. Expect stinky cheese and lots of oil. If you're willing to pay the ~$20 premium for a pie that serves 1 or 2 people, you're in for a treat! Great service.

Totally worthwhile mexican, but the "big" burritos and enchiladas are a rip off -- barely appreciably larger than the normal ones. The comprehensive menu is appreciated though!

1) This is not "Bushwick" as it is above Flushing.
2) The coffee is quite good and the baristas know how to make "fancy" coffee drinks properly.
3) The employees here are not known for being exactly thrilled to serve you the (quite passable) food. So don't order a bagel unless you've got plenty of time to wait.
4) The physical space in here is cool the first few times, but it is kind of whack for actual use.

This gets 4 star until all the California snobs tell me where I can get their vaunted "Mission-style" burrito within 200 miles of NYC. Good sauces on the meat.

The only thing stopping me from giving this 2 stars is the lack of competition from a truly great high end hot dog vendor. The dog itself was quite large and juicy, but to surpass the budget dog experience at Gray's / whatever, you need a better roll and a more rich array of toppings than Good Dog offered. Good if you're in the area -- the toppings are fresh -- but it does not compare to hot dog artistry at Dash Dog.

While I enjoy Lodge and find their beverage selection (particularly the beer) to be among the best of Williamsburg's overpriced brunch w/ drinks & dinner places, this restaurant goes a little overboard with some of the markups. $15 for trout seems a bit steep. Stick to the burgers (very competitive with DuMont) or salad and keep it under $10. Our waitress was a bit slow and brought me a Harpoon IPA instead of the UFO (Hefeweizen). Yuck.

Awesome delivery, but skip the lunch specials, they're too rice heavy and skimp on the meat. The regular noodle or curry orders are your best bet. Dining in is fine, but its not going to impress a date. Good for curry and Thai tea/coffee with an old friend.

Academy's huge amount of floorspace allows them to offer the best *quality* (aka not just dumpy crates one step removed from a thrift store) selection of records in all of New York. The records are priced to move, so if you want to find a treasure, it really helps to check the new bin (there's a separate one for dance 12"s) religiously or to buy an employee a few drinks so you get the text messages. The new LP selection is very competitive with Kim's or Other Music and offers titles not found there, as the employees seem to have quite a bit of freedom in purchasing decisions. 5 stars!
